Beacon Program

BCNY’s Beacon Program is operated by the Boys’ Club of New York and serves children in grades K-12, and adults of all ages.
Our Beacon Program is run in collaboration with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and is open in the afternoons, evenings, weekends, and during school holidays and vacation periods, including the summer.

BCNY’s Beacon Program is located within PS 185 on 112th Street between Malcom X Boulevard and 5th Avenue. Click here for directions.

Our afterschool program is designed to help our younger community members in grades K-12 acquire the skills and attitudes they need to graduate from high school, succeed in their chosen career, and give back to the community. Typical programs include Tutoring, Robotics, Sports, Performing Arts, Studio Art, Media Arts and Design, S.T.E.A.M., Cooking, High School Access, College Access, and more. We aim provide our participants with programming that bolsters self-confidence and nurtures a sense of belonging to their community.

The first day of afterschool programming is September 10, 2018.

Our adult programs are designed to encourage fitness, social interaction and community engagement. They may include activities such as basketball, yoga, academic guidance, parent workshops, and education and wellness fairs.

All BCNY Beacon Program services are free of charge.

To ensure that our community has access to a wide variety of adult programming, we partner with neighborhood groups to provide special programs for adults and families. If you would like to partner with BCNY’s Beacon Program, please email
